DESCRIPTION

Sixty ingredients. Many weeks of slow distillation. Shamama is the most complex attar in the Indian tradition: a single oil holding herbs, spices, roots, resins and flowers in perfect harmony. Its recipes have been passed down through families of distillers for centuries, closely guarded and rarely written, which is why no two shamamas are ever alike. In India it has long been treasured as a winter attar, worn for its deep, enveloping warmth.
Ours begins with a family house that has distilled for three generations, crafting fragrances for many of the world’s great perfume houses. But how do you make a shamama ours? How do you make it SULAYM’s?
We began with saffron, the world’s most precious spice. To it we added two rare ouds: wild Malinau, from the forests of Borneo, and Sumbawa, from the Indonesian island that gives it its name. Royal Ta’ifi rose from the Sultan’s atelier brings the beauty of roses grown high in the mountains of Ta’if, while vintage neroli, drawn from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, adds a luminous lift. Jasmine grandiflorum, musk and ambergris, born of the ocean and weathered for years at sea, complete the composition. Each was chosen to elevate a centuries-old tradition without losing its soul.
The result is a shamama that is unmistakably classical, yet like no other. Warm spices and dark, earthy roots meet the golden glow of saffron and the radiance of Ta’ifi rose and neroli, while two ouds deepen every layer. Ambergris and musk carry it all close to the skin: rich, enveloping and endlessly complex.
Shamama has always been an act of patience: botanicals distilled slowly over fire in copper stills, then left to age until sixty voices become one.
