DESCRIPTION
Before SULAYM had even launched, one of the very first oils we acquired was a Sultan Qaboos Burmi. What a way to start your journey. Intense and laden with incense, it smelled of purple oud smouldering on hot coals, and it left such an impression that we eventually decided to make an accord of our own. We named it Purple B.
Many SULAYM fragrances are built around secret in-house accords like this one. Each is composed to precise ratios, then given years to mature before we use it as a single ingredient. It’s why a list of notes online can never tell the whole story, and why our fragrances can’t simply be recreated.
Purple B, though, refused to be tamed. We tried it in incense compositions, jasmine fragrances, rose elixirs but every time its sheer intensity took over, sharpening with age into a piercing, electric edge. Then came the breakthrough: Kaine's love for sandalwood decided to wrap it in a woody gourmand. The result was phenomenal, and we refined it further still with the finest Mysore, Madagascan vanilla, bergamot, grapefruit and Sultan’s frankincense.
Mysuru Nectar opens with bergamot touched by lavender, bright and lifting rather than soft and sleepy. From there it shifts with every wear: some days a glimmer of grapefruit, other days a dark, jammy sweetness. Creamy Mysore sandalwood and Sultan’s frankincense bring warmth and depth, while Madagascan vanilla breaks through, clad in an armour of oud. Sweet, woody and perfectly balanced, it is like a wooden barrel filled with the finest florals and left to age in a dark cellar for many years: rich, rounded and impossible to put down.
