Maharaja II reflects SULAYM’s aim within the Zenith range to offer ouds that performs well above their price point. If this oud was presented as a wild distillation at twice the price, you wouldn’t bat an eyelid.
It carries the full DNA of a modern wild Hindi without breaking the bank. The opening is intense and resinous, with a present but controlled barn note that adds depth without becoming overpowering.
You will find an array of notes throughout the wear. Hay, leather, rum, resin and ripened fruits all appear at different stages, giving it olfactory movement.
As it settles, the dry down develops a gentle sweetness and a perfumed finish. Spiced tea, caramelised wood and tobacco come through, creating a warm and lasting impression.
Distilled in 2023 and aged for three years, the maturation has increased its intensity and depth.
Maharaja II is a strong, well-rounded Hindi oud that delivers a lot more than expected.
