The first Éditions de Musc Exclusive of the year is a limited musc rendition of Ka'bah 1447, macerated slowly in the manner of a traditional ghaliyah. Time has deepened it into something darker, more sensual and more intimate than the original.
The Art of Maceration
Ghaliyah is one of the oldest and most treasured traditions in perfumery, a practice of blending precious materials and leaving them to rest until they mature into a single, seamless whole. We have honoured that tradition here. Ka'bah 1447 was macerated with some of the finest materials we work with: HM Muateq, collectors' grade Vietnamese oud, HM Royal Laos, rose centifolia absolute, Sultan Qaboos saffron, vintage neroli and gardenia. Rather than rushing the composition, we allowed it to rest and deepen over time, letting each material settle, soften and bind to the others. The result is a fragrance that feels less assembled and more alive, with a depth that only patience can bring.
A New Expression of Ka'bah 1447
Maceration has drawn out facets of the composition that were once hidden. The original fragrance, enriched with rose centifolia absolute, has settled into a more balanced heart, dark velvet rather than sweet, lifted by the luminous brightness of vintage neroli and the sparkly, heady bloom of gardenia. The camphor has sharpened into a cool, piercing clarity that gives the fragrance its distinctive breath, warmed by the golden, precious glow of Sultan Qaboos saffron.
The oud, once a background presence, now steps forward with newfound confidence. Collectors' grade Vietnamese oud brings richness and warmth, HM Royal Laos adds a deep, noble character, and HM Muateq lends the aged, matured depth that anchors the entire composition. Beneath it all lies a warm bed of musc that holds these notes together, rounding the edges and drawing the fragrance close to the skin.
How it Wears
Ka'bah 1447 Éditions de Musc Exclusive wears like a French perfume. Its notes do not arrive all at once but dance and intertwine with one another, each revealing itself in turn as the fragrance unfolds. The cool clarity of camphor and the brightness of neroli give way to the soft bloom of rose and gardenia, before the saffron, oud and musc settle into a deep, sensual trail that stays with you through the day.
