DESCRIPTION
From the atelier of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. Among the many Hindi and Burmi distillations held in the Sultan’s collection, only one oud carries the Laotian badge, and this is it.
Distilled in the 1990s from pure wild wood, as befits a royal atelier with access to the finest agarwood and its own distillers, HM Royal Laos has been ageing for decades since. It was first showcased in June 2024 as part of our HM Sultan Qaboos Heritage Collection. Before its release, we reviewed it alongside a renowned French perfumer, assessing its notes, its quality and its finish. It met every standard and more, and we believe it should serve as the reference for Laotian oud.
This is not the funky, fermented profile of many newer-generation Laotian ouds. It is unmistakably a Sultan Qaboos oud: ripe and fruity, with a beautiful twang that brings it to life. Imagine ripe dates, plums and raisins, dark syrup and jam, the finest leather and warm resinous wood slowly heating over embers. Decades of time has added its own depth and character, rounding every edge until the whole oil feels seamless.
