DESCRIPTION
Kinam, also known as Kyara or Qi Nan, holds a legendary status in the world of oud. Renowned for its exceptional fragrance, rarity, and astronomical price (think 8 times the price of gold). Today, finding Kinam grade oud in the wild is most likely impossible, making it extraordinarily rare. The trees must be several decades or even centuries old, resulting in intensely condensed and resinous wood.
Kinam's scent profile is extraordinarily complex. It opens with sweet honey notes that captivate the senses, balanced by a rich spiciness that adds remarkable depth. A distinctive, mind-numbing bitterness harmoniously melds with the sweet and spicy elements. Additionally, a unique cooling sensation distinguishes Kinam from other ouds, making it a highly prized and distinguishable aroma.
In recent years, many cultivators have attempted to replicate this fragrance, using saplings and regrowing trees from mother trees that carry Kinam characteristics. However, cultivated Kinam has often lacked the depth, the notes, and the fragrance of wild wood. Until now.
One of our dedicated distillers embarked on a mission: to cultivate the most dense, resinous, and aged cultivated Kinam. Using only the most resin-dense, sinking chips, they produced an oil that is truly remarkable. Enter the Green Dragon. Initially reserved for the Chinese New Year (Year of The Dragon), we decided to launch it a few months later for the Islamic New Year instead.
This oil is truly exceptional. You would find it very hard to believe this oud has been distilled using cultivated wood chips. Imagine Kinam on the subitism, gently heating away on low heat. This is a no-holds-barred type of oud from Hainan that punches with serious Kinamic notes. It features raw, mind numbing, psychedelic honey, depth, and verdant mentholic cooling notes. There is a beautiful crystalline profile which wraps around all of the notes. The cost of this distillation carried a huge price tag and we have done everything we can to help keep the price down for our customers so they can experience this extraordinary profile.
Happy New Year!
