HM Badshah was first showcased over a year ago as part of the Heritage Collection sample set. Since then, it has sold out twice before we ever had the opportunity to formally launch it. That alone is testimony to how spectacular this oud truly is. By region, it is a Hindi oud, but unlike most Hindis you have likely ever encountered.
The issue with most modern Hindi ouds is that local practices have eroded the true character of the original profile. Over-soaking to increase yields. The malpractice of co-distillation to fabricate floral notes. Even cutting corners on clean, properly purified water during distillation. The result is what many now mistake for “Hindi”: an aggressive, undesirable funk, not the authentic profile, paired with a diluted and hollow expression of what this style of oud is meant to be.
HM Badshah arrives to correct that narrative. It does not imitate. It redefines the standard.
